I'm not cruising anywhere with you. Looks like you wrecked your e46 twice in one year.

haha the internets is no lie. I did indeed crash my car twice. But not because of my driving habits, both times were caused by black ice.I'm not cruising anywhere with you. Looks like you wrecked your e46 twice in one year.

But Im wondering now, do you really have that much time where you can search for me on other forums? Instead of searching for stuff about me, you should search how to do my m52 swap for me :nice:

A little update for ya Jgood, I ordered all the OBD1 stuff and I already received my e34 oil pan and accessories. Now I just need to find a dam e36 328 or e30 m3 driveshaft. A few other things here and there and I should be on my way. Do you have a suggestion for an exhaust setup? What are you running on your 325e?

Ehhh you are right and you are wrong. I guess you could say dont drive your car when there are icy conditions. But then again, that car was my DD and I live in a climate which is below freezing for 3-4 months. The first time I "crashed" was in a parking lot pulling into a parking spot, slid on ice, and bumped into a parking block. I cracked my bumper, that was the extent of the damage. A year later, the last time I crashed (and totaled) my car, was on a cold, dry day. Driving through the backroads, I came around a turn and suddenly and unexpectedly slid and sideswiped a bridge wall (I guess bridges ice before roads even when there is no moisture). There was no time to correct, and even if there was time, I wouldnt have been able to do anything because I was on ice. I was going ~35 in a 40. By looking at the pictures, you can tell it was a minor accident but deployed airbags were the deciding factor in why the insurance company totaled it out.
The internet is an easy place to make quick judgements isnt it?
But c'mon guys, lets just be friends and look forward to the completion of my swap :D

There's a saying it goes like this: "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" It means you should learn how to drive better before you total your e30 too.
E46s the world can do without especially POS 323ci ones, E30s (god's chariot) must be conserved.

Originally posted by I*do*WerkeOK so basically I hit a patch of ice and slid into a parking block. My front bumper was damaged and the side skirts were also slightly damaged because the car went over the block and landed on top. I was basically a teeter toter  AND to top it off, some a$$hole tried to break into my trunk with a crow bar.
So I take out a claim with insurance and they told me to take my car to a shop to get an estimate. I was wondering if there would be anyway for me to get upgraded body parts? Aftermarket csl bumpers and trunks are cheaper than OEM parts. Could I talk to the guy at the bmw body shop and try to get him to help me out? Or will insurance just send me a check and then I can buy all the stuff myself?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Sweet, your quick judgement of my judgements is wrong. I spent 15+ years driving in a place where the lowest temperature in the depths of winter was in the 40's.
Two years ago I moved to a place where the sub freezing portion of the winter is also 3-4 months, I had, previously BEEN, not driven in the snow 5 times in 27 years. You could say I haven't had more rain to deal with than a mild drizzle.
So, the past two years have given me a unique, real world basis to form my conclusions, and furthermore, the drivers handbook, and most bridges have signs informing drivers to watch for ice on bridges.
In closing, I don't think I made a single quick judgement.Comment
