why would you put an M50 into an E30M3? Seems like a dumb idea to me

You can swap over any coil over "kit" which consists of threaded sleeves, adjustable collars and the springs.

A "real" front coil-over cannot be swapped unless you want to make the m3 4-lug.

              Rears are the same.

                cool thanks man!!

also any clue what one is worth?
A guy wants to sell me one that's been butchard. It has a old vanos m50 inside it and it needs alittle work. the body is rust free though. I could never afford to buy a s14 powered m3 anyway. Is it bad that Im playing with the idea of buying it, though it will never be s14 powered?

Will you enjoy it? If the answer is yes then who cares if it's "bad".

the purists will shit a little, but it still will be a great looking and fun car! almost the same power, a little more weight. besides, most of us cant afford to maintain an s14 properly anyways.

First thing anyone should do when buying an e30 M3, is immediately begin to ignore the purists. Enjoy it how YOU want - the car is SO much more than just the engine it came with.

                          +1

And you can always swap an S14 back into the engine bay when you have saved some money.
Or go insane with S54 as it's more do-able these days.

Thanks guys :) I have that turbo m50 I will prob put in it just because i spent a bunch of money building the motor already. Maybe I will work on building an s motor that all my m50 turbo parts can bolt up to :) sounds like a plan to me!!

                              20,000 rule man!
any e30 m3 you buy will cost you 20k.
so you pay 6k, then spend another 14k to make it right.
thats just what people say, i think it means to make it right, but if it were me...i'd use that turbo m50 you have.
as long as you're getting over 300 to the wheels, rock it out!
