    E30 s50! It has begun!!!

I've had my 88 cabrio for about a 1 year. It was hit in the front but had 95k original miles so I had to get it. Not only were the miles super low bit the full interior was a brand new cardinal red. Got and excellent deal on it. Within the year I did a m tech 2 plastic bumper conversion, painted it white and fixed all the little things in the motor to get it running from the accident. About a month ago I purchased a wrecked 95 m3 with a good motor and tranny. I just pulled the motor out today and I'm taking out the m20 probably this weekend. I will post up pics soon and keep everybody updated. Also if you have any tips for me that will be great! I was told I have to have a red label 413 dme or else the car won't start, is this true? The other parts I know I need consist of:

    E34 throttle cable
    E21 brake booster
E34 525 oil pan, dip stick, dip stick tube, oil pick up tube
    E28 535i motor mounts or m5 mounts
    Ecu wire harness adapter.
    E36 engine mount arms.

Like I said if you have any other suggestions, tips or info just please let me know! Will post pics soon! Thank you!!!

Search for any quirks you run into. Otherwise you've hit the high points to swap pk. Keep us posted, looks like a gem about to Be really polished out.

yea i realized i have been asking a million question before the swap even started, so i figured stating then asking when i run ointo problems will be best.
one problem i have already is i was told i need to buy a 413 red lable dme or else it wont start. is this true or can i use my original 413 grey lable dme?

You'll need a red label 413 DME. Verify if you can that it has no EWS or you'll have to get a chip that deletes the EWS from it. Not a huge deal but, it is a deal.
              Need a part? PM me.

Yea that's what the guy was saying, okay another question for you, if I get an ix booster can I use my stock master cylinder and if not then which one do I use?
                Thanks alot btw

From my understanding and I could be wrong, you should be fine running whatever master pairs to the iX booster. Girling or ATE. Honestly if I could do it again myself, I'd have run the stock booster with the slotted firewall.

I know right? That was my other question. With just about all the boosters they say you can use with the swap, you have to make the shaft the same exact size at the stock booster. Why can't you just use the stock booster?

The stock booster in it's factory location will contact the intake manifold. As in not fit. But, you can notch the firewall 1/2" or so and move it to the right (looking at the engine from the front of the car) and you're golden.

No worries. That's what the community is here for. I purchased 2 boosters when I went 24v. My pedal feels like a limp noodle but, I'm hoping that's just my master.

hahah yea i think its stupid to buy a weaker booster with a more powerful motor. if anything i want better breaks. after i do the swap im going to get slottle and drill rotors with new pads, hopefully that helps. if not i want to look into swapping my e36 m3 brakes onto my e30. have you heard of this being done before? thanks!!!

I agree, and that's why I went with a Porsche 944 booster, all you have to do is shorten and tap the end of the pushrod, and it fits perfectly.

Also, if you can avoid it and know and understand wiring, or know someone who does, don't go with an adapter. Wire the harness directly in, makes for a much cleaner install.
