    If relays test good:

    1. Make a jumper wire with some male spade terminals on each end.
    2. Remove K5 (windows) or K7 relay (blower motor controls)
    3. Plug the ends into the slots where relay terminals 30 and 87 would go (look underneath the relay for reference.
    4. This will power up either windows/heat without having the key turned in ignition.

    No results

    if checks out ok:

    1. Plug c101 back into engine harness
    2. Test continuity from terminal 30h on starter (smallest lug) to terminal 85 in relay socket

    Continuity Good

if checks out ok, your starter isn't grounding internally.

    1. Run an external wire, about the same gauge at the wire at 30h from terminal 30h on the starter (smallest) to the larger lug that has the braided ground wire.

I did this, and no results. In fact, my starter doesn't work. something is "spinning," but the starter isn't actually functioning. No blower motor or windows either..

Dammit, seriously!? I scroll down to come to a dead end. I'm dealing with the exact issue of my starter not engaging the flywheel (m20 starter, m20 flywheel, g240 btw)

So far, electrically, I check out good. I think I'll have to come to the conclusion that my solenoid is effed. Will BFH the fucker first then get a rebuilt unit :/.

I actually solved my problem by grounding the unloader relay from the fuse box. Not too happy how it looks but it works

grounding the k5 and k7 directly?

those are wired to the green/black wire right?

Yep that's right, the green and black wire coming from the fuse box. Extend that wire and ground it to the strut tower and see what happens

do you think this is effectively doing the same?

I tried that and it didn't seem to work. It's the same thing.

why not wire it up properly instead of hack-jobbing everything? ;)

hence my post with the link. I don't want to hack job it. It's currently wired correctly and I've verified with continuity checks across all related wiring. If my wiring is incorrect then I'll just come to realize that my starter/solenoid is at fault.

                          I'm spinning, just not engaging.

that usually means the soilenoid is bad.
