    Update:

Today was my day off- the entirety of it was spent between my desk, kinkos, and under my car.

My latest rendition should be perfect, buuuttt its too dark to find out. We'll see in the morning.

Assuming the angles line up, i'll send it off to Brew to see if the angles line up at the same time (my tranny is out of my car right now.)

I've been playing with the design alot- I'd feel alot better if we could get longer bolts to mount the brace to the car, this way I can make the mounting arms thicker- I'll check out hardware in the next couple of days to see what I can find.

I am going to suggest we go this route:

Drill holes and tap them to screw the tranny mounts into the brace. This will allow the brace to be stronger, and make installation easier (only requires two nuts to be used.

I'm working on a urethane mount group buy with IE- hopefully we can get some decent prices.

The current prices for the brace are looking like:

Quantity of 5: $100 shipped each
Quantity of 10: $85 shipped each

Emachineshop's pricing system is a little screwie- I just changed my quantity from 10 to 7 and back to 10, and the price went down $2/each. It'll be nice to see the final design and get a price locked down.

Anyway- hopefully we'll have a "for sure" design shortly.

It'd be billet, cnc machined from 6061 aluminum.

I definately need somebody to check the template before I even think about sending the design out.

Unfortunately there is only one person around here that I know of who has done an m50 swap, and they're using the e36 tranny.

I'll ask around a bit and see what I come up with.

I just drafted one up and did the emachineshop thing...

    $188 for 1
    $100 for 5
    $80 for 10

That includes shipping, and no markup by me- which I'm fine with.

My question- is there anybody that has their engine in their car, that I can snail mail a template to, to make sure the lines match up?

And just so everybody knows- this would be shipping without drilled holes for the tranny mounts, or undercarriage mounting. I forgot to draw that into the design when i got the first quote- with the holes its an extra $15 per bracket- I'd rather drill my own holes and save $15... but i'm not everybody.

Bump, lets get this in motion! If we can't get it together I wonder if we could find a BMW parts vender like BMPD or bavauto to start making them. If we could get a group of us to preorder them to prove to them that there is pleny of intrest in the part they might start making them.

I actually drew it up and made a prototype that fit perfectly- but havent gotten around to sending it to be made-

I'll look for my dimentions in the next day or so. Kilomph- you making them or what? (who am i sending dimentions to?)
