Okay, I just drew it up, cut it out, and it looks like its going to do the job perfectly. I'll get to welding tomorrow and make sure the prototype fits. The shitty part is I have a 60 mile round trip to my shop... oh well.
I'm just using 1/4" flat bar for construction which should be more than adequate. The factory brace is made from 1/16" steel... thats extruded of course, but 1/4" should make up for it. I'm also making it so you can use the stock e30 tranny mounts (dont have to get the e21 mounts).
what kind of price do you guys think is fair?

I call dibs and get a place inline for the first person to make brackets hehe. I have money sitting and saved for it.Leave a comment:

I'm going to do it this week while I wait on my SDS EFI to get here. I'll keep you posted.

Come on guys, someone do it, I'll buy one.
It's official, I'm doing a M50 swap into my e30Leave a comment:

I have no problems fabbing the part, I just need to get dimensions at this point. The idea of taking my tranny off and putting my old one back to make a bracket when i'm not quite ready for it doesnt thrill me. If push comes to shove i'll get 'er done though. I really dont see the point in a billet support- welded steel will be fine and cheap.

Don't know anybody that's used this, but it has always looked interesting to me.

You're probably the guy I was thinking of. I design parts for a living, in AutoCAD and Solidworks, so it's just a matter of getting accurate dimensions.Originally posted by joshhIf you send me some specs (drawing) of exactly what you want, I can do it for you.
I haven't even begun my swap yet, so getting measurements myself is out of the question.Leave a comment:

If someone could get some decent dimensions off of a finished bracket, I'd like to model it up and find someone to machine a billet bracket. Someone on this board posted a while ago that they work at or owned a shop and would do this type of stuff for us on the side. I'm sure a part like that would save a lot of people from the headache of fabbing up the part themselves. :idea:Leave a comment:

10 degrees is exactly right. I wish I could make one for you, but I have no skills in welding.Leave a comment:

Or if somebody could tell me if I'm just supposed to rotate the mounts 10 degrees clockwise looking at it from the rear... Is 10 degrees about right?
