Have you thought about fitting them where the stock overflow reservoir goes and letting them extend lower down into the headlight area to match the volume.

Yes, the welding looks solid and the plate looks great. Was just a question, not a criticism.

I think the price is great.

Thanks! Yeah I have been exploring options for relocating my early expansion tank since all the hoses and water pump were just replaced. I was searching wrong, looking for "expansion tank fittings" etc and found nothing. I must be getting old :(

I understand. My point is that the E36 has the same routing for the radiator and such and people all the time switch from the US one to the Euro one which is in this location and nobody has had a problem on those. Don't see why the distance would make it an issue on these.

I was also under the impression that E30 guys do switch to the E36 Euro expansion tank and relocate it in this spot although I could be wrong.

So the wisher-washer location tank that people are asking for is already made by jon at 666, my question is if you can make an aluminum tank for the other side of the engine bay that somehow mounts to the late model stock bracketry for those in the m20/m30 realm. A replacement plastic reservoir is almost $100, so $129 is a great price for some sexy aluminum.

^^^ +1 a Aluminum tank that would mount on the Driver side just like the 89-91 325's would be nice.

let me clear up some things:

E36 euro uses the same expansion tank as 88-91 e30 M20 cars. Position is by the e36 DME box as your metal one is placed. This i installed into my e36.

e30 m20 late model and e36 also share radiator part numbers. The PWR radiator from my e36M has been installed into my E30 using S52 hoses.

e30's have the same waterbox unit as e36 euro but its located on the left side by the air intake box.

e30 early models have an expansion tank bolted to fire wall, 666 fab makes one for this already.

I like the idea. You could sell the hoses with the tank too and make it a one stop shop. Id be interested in one when my E30 M3 S50 finally runs! Can you post pics on how you ran the hoses?

Would be more interested in a long skinny one to go in front of the rad like a stock 6 cyl e36 tank and a larger one that the 666 for the washer fluid for top mount turbo cars. The capacity of the 666 is kind of a joke....
