Well, I have an m50 and an e36 rack. So the pump should work with the setup. I'm using an e36 pump to rack line and e30 feed and return lines (same size fittings as the e36). So I should be fine. I'm just thinking my pump is bad.

You have to use the M/S Pumps. You can not use the E30 Pump.

OBD2 has a different pump than OBD1. You need to match your pump to your oil filter housing.

And just to add that the pulleys are different too.

My pump fits perfectly on my oil filter housing. Belt and tensioner work fine too.

Are you saying my pump is OBD2?

              Here it is plumbed correctly.

I decided to try replacing the pump first. This is one I bought at my local pnp. Nasty but it cleaned up nicely.

I cleaned it up, installed, refilled res, and and gave it a crank. I NOW HAVE PS!!! :) Another thing off my to do list. I got to feel how some of you guys do (an like) no ps. Why? With ps, the car feels much lighter and alive! To each their own i guess but i enjoy it far better.

OBD2 pumps use a sheet metal bracket for mounting.

OBD1 Pumps have a cast alluy piece.

OBD1 OFH housings have removable plugs in the back.

OBD2 OFH Housings have permanent plugs.

                  Thank you sir!

You have the pump to rack line connected to the smaller banjo bolt on the rack and the return res line on the bigger banjo bolt on the rack correct?

here is a pic of mine, also confirms that larger banjo goes to the res, smaller goes to the rack. E30 lines, E36 pump. all workie from day one of the swap

I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

So does anyone use the return line on the OBD2 cars that integrates the ps oil cooled section into it? I got one from the sally yesterday but the e30 rack doesn't have the bolt holes on the rack and with the pan hanging over the rack it doesn't promote optimal airflow....

Goin to get lines crimped now thoughts PS users!?!
