    ZF trans-what slave cylinder?

i combed through past threads digging for an answer and honestly couldnt find a clear cut one, so my apologies if i missed it in my searches.

my m52 swapped car is running a 5spd ZF transmission and currently has an e36 slave in it (part # 1159045). the clutch will grab just off the floor when releasing the clutch pedal. probably every other time you press the clutch pedal down it makes a noise in trans area before the pedal is totally depressed, possibly being that the slave cylinder is running out of room/pushing the pressure plate too far.

does anyone have a part number or recommendation for the correct slave cylinder to use?

im still fairly new to this but: this slave cylinder seems to cover a pretty broad range of e36 modeled cars according to the dealer based on the part #. my clutch setup is an OE e36 M (brand new, slave is brand new as well), would this make any difference in what slave to use?

                slave matches the trans

can you take a video of the noise. I spend all day everyday with them and have seen my fair share of issues (both product and consumer.)

the car is currently at the shop where all the work is taking place. im just trying to help them remedy the situation, get some answers, etc.

after talking with a friend of mine who has messed with 24v swaps and has his own s/c e36 M, the slave part #s are different for an M car and a 328is car and the ZF trans was bolted to the M cars, so they are going to swap in an M specific slave and see what happens. if you all are correct that the slave needs to match the trans, this should solve the issue

check also that your master is in good shape. if the master is shitting out, and isnt pushing ALL the fluid it could, issues may ensue....

If your slave is not BRAND NEW; that might be the problem. slaves are just that, die quick/disposable items. swap in any GOOD SLAVE (new one) and you will be on the path to diagnosis. is the clutch set +pivot pin+throw out bearing all new parts also?

                        Slave matches the trans. Slaves from a few different ZF SG320 5 speed trans; e36 328i, e36m3. also 95 m3 / 1991/2 e34 525i Zf SG310 5 speed

both cars share one standard of flywheel and pressure plate (240mm dual mass); completely inter changable.

On my first swap I used a light fly and sprung hub disc and the first month or so I had the issue you are talking about, sometimes if I pressed too hard on the pedal there was like a grinding feedback that came through the pedal. After about a month it didn't do that anymore not sure what it was doing it.

the slave is brand new yes, and it has a TO bearing as well. going to try this e36 M slave (different PN) and see if this rectifies the situation.

some guys stated that their clutch released about midway while others stated it was doing so right off the floor. if i remember what i read correctly, the clutch release point being higher was the result of an entirely different transmission setup?

My ZF with the stock E46 328 slave cylinder and E30 master releases just off the floor (approx 1.5 inches or so). appears to be getting a bit higher, or it could be me just getting used to it
