another "would this DME work question?"

so after i searched and searched about everyone says i must get the red label 413 DME for the s50 swap, but going thru the wiring schematic i believe that this DME should work just fine, anyone tried this one ? final verdict aye or nay ?

sweet ! thanks,,, now the diagram says i need an active high input to the DME from the clutch when its depressed, did you have to wire it or i'm just going overboard with this ?

You're going overboard. Some 506 dme's have ews so be mindful of that.

Mine came out of 6/1994 US M3, after little research it turns out it does have EWS but its EWS I, not EWS II, EWS I its a simple anti theft security that checks if the doors were looked from the outside, or if the gear is in neutral in automatic cars and,, etc if i understand it right, and it does have a separate EWS module according to realoem, BUT no rings on the ignition or any sort of exchange between the key and the DME.

Thats why i was wondering if i have to tell the DME, hey listen no one broke into the car

EWS I still requires a chip to delete it.

So I wired everything up today and the car started right away with the EWS 1 silver label 506.

Nice! So did you end up getting an ews delete chip? I have the same dme but never tried starting the e30 without the delete chip. Just wondering if you got it started without one

No ews delete chip, it was made in 06/1994. I'm most certain if yours was made prior to 01/1995 it would work just fine without a delete chip
