    i got a 525 oil pan at the yard and

    you know that thing that goes on first to hold up oil for the crankshaft. well i always see them for sale and it is detachable from the pan and the pan i got it is attached. is that bad? does it matter?

    The one attached to the block is used for the e36 pan with the rear sump. The one in the e34 pan is all that you need if I understand all my info correctly. I just removed the one that was attached to my engine and utilize the one in the e34 pan since I got my M50 out of an e36.

        I just left the piece in the e34 pan, and removed the one on my s52.

          The pan i got off of a 525 didn't have it. is that normal or i managed to get a junk? i installed it with no problem and left the original one on the s52 block.

            i think you're good.
            from what I'm gathering i think they made 2 styles. ones with the oil keeper upper thing attached and not attached

              ok, thanks! now i'm second guessing every part i got for my swap. i just found out that the e36m3 drive shaft i bought is for an auto when i asked for a manual. i bought it like 2 months ago. i hope they will be nice and swap it out for me! it was their f**k up so they should...

                This just means you need to get a 6 speed.
                Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73

                  i wish! baby is coming any day now. no more fund for the swap so i have to work with whatever i have. it would be awesome though! i still want a bbk but i will try to get the money for it by selling all the parts i don't need.
                  how much does the 6 speed go for BTW? the auto drive shaft would work with that?

                    yes. An auto E36 328 shaft would work for your 6 speed.

                    The 6 speed is around 1k-1.5k, the flywheel can be between $100 and $800 (used to new)

                    There is a few other costs.
