The one attached to the block is used for the e36 pan with the rear sump. The one in the e34 pan is all that you need if I understand all my info correctly. I just removed the one that was attached to my engine and utilize the one in the e34 pan since I got my M50 out of an e36.

I just left the piece in the e34 pan, and removed the one on my s52.

The pan i got off of a 525 didn't have it. is that normal or i managed to get a junk? i installed it with no problem and left the original one on the s52 block.

This just means you need to get a 6 speed.

i wish! baby is coming any day now. no more fund for the swap so i have to work with whatever i have. it would be awesome though! i still want a bbk but i will try to get the money for it by selling all the parts i don't need.
how much does the 6 speed go for BTW? the auto drive shaft would work with that?

yes. An auto E36 328 shaft would work for your 6 speed.

The 6 speed is around 1k-1.5k, the flywheel can be between $100 and $800 (used to new)

There is a few other costs.
