I build my M50 Vanos Strocker a little different.
Started with an M50 vanos and used a S50 3.0 Crank and rods, and kept the M50v Pistons. With M50 head with S50 cams.PInk injectors, euro Maf, Euro 323 flywheel.

Its the second engine we have done like this and the frist one was for a 318ti with a few bolt ons dynoed in at 242whp. It scared allot of e46 M3's ;)
Cant wait to fire mine up and drive it in the E30

      any updates on this?

us underprivileged upsidedowners don't have has many S50/S52's lying around the place as you lot seem to up there, so this option is of interest to me.

well you need the bigger crank, and if you can get the crank why can't you get the whole motor?

don't you guys have M54B30s? I'd just go with that, a better overall package and likely much cheaper.

Would that be a little closure to a 2.8~2.9 since M50v pistons are 84mm vs S50 pistons that are 86mm?

Plenty of M54B30s down here (in fact, that's what's under the bonnet of my DD E39 - awesome engine)...

But planting one of those in the E30 & ditching the M50 would mean dealing with Vanos, Fly-Wire & any other nuisance differences between the M50&M54.
Having said that, my M50 is a 2.0Ltr, which actually has a slightly smaller bore, so stroking this block would not be worth the effort/ over-honed walls. Nonetheless, an M50B25 can be bought for considerably less money then a M54B30, making it a more attractive option to assemble a M50Head/M52Block/M54Crank mix.
            +added cool.

vanos and DBW aren't really a big deal..

it's going to have to be a *lot* cheaper considering how much it will cost to build an M50 3.0 from scratch.

also be careful of deck heights, they may not be the same between M50s and M54s.

Luis this is wrong information and it is not posible to do that.
                1995 S50 carnkshaft is 85.8mm stroke
                1995 S50 rods are 135mm same as 2.8l, 3.2l
and M50 piston with this combination the piston will stick out 2mm from the deck.

                Only closest solution is:
S50 crank and rods + M52 pistons will put you at 2.9L and 12:1 compression ratio and valve cut outs on the piston top will have to be cut deeper.

The best and most practical stroker solution is everything from M54B30
