Just blew it at the track

I went out to Infineon Raceway to go to the drift meet but they were booked solid. I decided to just hit the drags since it was only $10 more and my time BLEW.

Maybe its the 2.93. Are you spinning your tires of the launch? 15.2 isnt too far off the mark if I recall. I think s50 e30s with 3.25 rear ends runs a mid 14?

How many runs did you get in? Was this you best run? Out off all your runs what was your best trap?

1 second reaction time not going to help is it?

yeah, 15 seconds sounds really slow. My 323i E46 was getting mid to low 14's and it is heavier and down on power in comparison to a E30 with a S50.
an extremely pugnacious, snarly little bastard of a car.

Ran it twice, first was the one above and the next was a 15.22. I lost the slip though so I'm not sure about the specifics. I'm thinking traction had a lot to do with it, I didn't hook until practically 3rd gear.

The motor runs like a champ, never had any issues so far. But it is stock OBD1 manifolds, stock cat, stock muffler, etc. So it is pretty restricted, but not like that would shave a second off my 1/4 lol.

I was hoping for AT LEAST mid/low 14's for my first time. And yea, it was my first time draging my car, so driver error very well could be contributing to my shitty time.

The only thing is that even with bad traction the trap speed should still be higher..... other than that all i can say is practice.

You caught traction in 3rd with a 2.93 and 205/50?
That sounds weird, what RPM are you launching at?

2.93 is pretty low for drag.

The tires are pretty shitty, I'd say I caught mid-to the end of second. First one about 2k I think, then the next a little higher. I was more focused on the lights than my gauges lol.

I'd say a lot of practice, better rear tires, and a different differential.

But then again, thats just my opinion..

Opinions are much appreciated buddy. I mean I didn't buy it to be a drag demon, but I just had higher expectations and trying to figure out what to do differently.

                          Opps, nevermind, m50 e30s run a mid 14. S50 e30s run a mid-ish 13.

I'm not a drag junkie or anything, but spinning tire till 3rd is obviously the factor here, lol.
                            Along with a long diff.

Get better tires. That said a stock s5x e30 still isn't a drag machine. You need some snail.
