    Only reason I don't like RTV is the proper cure time for it to be oil resistant. "The Right Stuff" can be put to use immediately.

    It's Mercedes, Chrysler, Ford, GM OEM part numbers.

      I used RTV and no gasket lol..not the right way, but it doesnt leak....

        RTV works fine...unless you put oil on it too soon.

        Working at a shop, I don't like waiting, plus elastomeric is far superior to RTV.

          my buddy with an m20 said he just did cork gasket + no sealer and he doesn't have any leaks!

            Cork gaskets are the best for leaks and easy removal, problem is they don't last. Owning several air cooled back in the day, cork made valve adjustments easy.

              This is for my m50 swap and I am using the BMW oem Gasket which appears to be a really nice product. I am torn on this one because changing it out again would be a HUGE pita.

                So make sure you won't have to again for a long time. Use the Permatex Gasket Sealer. Apply it to both sides of the gasket, and the gasket surfaces of the pan and the block. You smear it on with a finger, let it tack up a bit, put the gasket on, repeat, do the other side of the gasket, repeat, and do the mounting surface of the block.

                  Called two local shops that I frequent and they both suggested they I don't use sealant.. Put the gasket on without sealant and now my oil own has oil/grease all over it! Not dripping or anything, but oil is def getting through the gasket.. regret not sealing it.

                  Save yourself the trouble and use sealer.

                    Grab a can of "the right stuff" its not cheap but make sure you dont need to take it off again anytime soon.

                    Used it on the oil pan/windage tray on my mopar...when I needed to remove the oil pan I swear I could've lifted the block by the dam pan it was sealed so well.
