I've also heard that curved blades are quieter than straight, is this correct?

I've been thinking about getting this one:

to me it looks the same but cheaper, what do you guys think?
The 2 you linked are the same SPAL fan. (Note the "2048" is short for "30102048")

Yes, in my experience the curved blade fans are quieter.

The current specs on the 30102048 are in one of my other posts, notice that it draws more amps and is slightly thicker than the older specs "the fanman" has on his site, but that shouldn't be an issue in most cases.

I just installed Spal 30100400 as a puller today. Its a very tight fit but has about 3/8" clearance. I still have the stock aux fan installed as I am going to be running AC.

I guess I'm gonna go with the one the fanman has, cause the price is really good and it looks like it will do the work.

I used a 1600 CFM Spal pusher fan with some mounting brackets from Massive. It clicks on through the lower temp fan speed sensor in the radiator.

I'm running a 16" FFD pusher and it cools my s50 perfectly, nice and quiet as well.

I don't have pictures of how I installed mine, but I think it's the best way. It's used in many race-car applications.

I used 6 of these little bad boys, and I'm very happy with the way they hold the fan.

I'll try to take pix of my setup today.

Rigid brackets are a much better way to mount an electric fan to a radiator since they don't run the risk of rubbing through the radiator core.

Hopefuly not too off topic but what if I'm keeping the ac condenser?

I currently have your set up bimmerteck but the whole bent bracket thing is just plain ugly.

function is greater than form in this particular instance for me.

It can't be seen when installed on my car and it reliably holds the fan in the same position as the stock fan was while improving airflow and reducing current draw.

I guess if you wanted it to look pretty you could fab a few pieces of aluminum and polish it up nice but it won't hold the fan any better so why bother. You could also order brackets from Lee at Massive and convert the fan to a puller but you'll likely loose some of the AC efficiency n the process.

For anyone not familiar with what what drumad is referring to, below is an image of how I modified the Spal brackets linked above to replace the factory aux fan brackets that aren't large enough to hold a 16" spal fan.

Yeah, mine is just like that.

You're probably right considering my whole front end is off the car and everything is visible. Thanks again dude.

Same here, but with my own brackets. Massive is way overpriced.
