    Wiring VSS

would not wiring the VSS to the back of the cluster throw a check engine light?
if so how do you go about wiring it in...through the connectors to the back of the cluster?

No. I just hooked mine up a couple of months ago...no codes.

It depends on what engine/chassis you have if you have to tie into the cluster. Late model 325i's are wired in through the C101.

connect pin 14 on the c101 to pin 14 on the x20.

With your chassis, you shouldn't even be touching the back of your cluster.

that's how your adapter was originally wired. pin 20 is 12v on many E30s, and it was wired to ground on the oil level sensor.

No VSS should throw code 73 (on a M50NV 402 DME). Not sure if this will trip the CEL though.

So basically just pull the pins out all together and spike them into each other and that's it? Or you run a wire....to... Them? Sorry I'm a true dipshit when it comes to wiring

there are pins that connect together. you need a male pin to wire on your E36 harness to plug into the E30's C101 connector.
