    M50 exhaust , Y-pipe or dual/single muffler

my setup now is , stock M50 headrs custom Y pipe to single 2,5 custom muffler to 2,5 single back box
the problem is that the first muffler is broken so i have to replace it

    i have found a magnaflow muffler 2"dual/ 2,5" single
i am thinking to install that and get rid of the Y pipe

    need some feedback please
    does anyone uses the magnaflow?

I would advise against the Magnaflow Y, it's HUGE. The Flowmaster Y is a much better design, more compact and also cheaper:

Dual will give better bottom end torque

True, but it's probably a pretty negligible amount.

so it will be better to go from setup A to setup B

I stuck with true duals all the way back.

                no. absolutely not.

once you merge the exhaust from the two headers (either with an X, like stock, or a Y, to a single pipe) there is zero difference. everything after the merge is meaningless for torque production - except for noise cancellation, and increasing restriction.

Setup (a) will be better. How much better is largely dependent on the quality of the 2-into-1 collector.

Nando is correct. A dual exhaust has the potential to give you the most ground clearance. I would add that a transition after the merge can further enhance power, so most engineered collectors in non-sound-restricted racing series will have a long shallow angle megaphone with a reverse cone end.

The reverse cone isn't practical for street-driven cars due to packaging issues and extreme sound levels. So, a megaphone ought to transition into exhaust tubing sized for your application.

so i will keep my Y custom pipe and replace my broken 1st muffler

                    thanks for the info :)
