Real 3.5 throttle body vs 2.5 throttle body s50

Planing on building a swap car. I had a question and heard rumors about a e38 throttle body ( cable driven) had been mounted to a m50 manifold. It's nice having the 3.5 intake and hfm. But by go thru all of
That since its all going back into the same 2.5 intake

Can anyone confirm this. And is anyone running a custom throttle body or a vac? I don't want a Dinan bored tb. Thanks in advance

No one uses these throttle bodys? Here is the link to treehouse kit? http://www.treehouseracing.com/index...tent&task=view

seriously, i didn't see a price tag on it. i wouldn't spend more than about 300.00 bucks on that.

Add it to your cart. It's $600 for the TB and silicone elbow.

There is still a restriction at the intake manifold.

well, the 3.5hfm is pointless to start with - so, how much do you think a 3.5 TB will help?

has anyone actually measured the pressure drop in a running M50 to see if the throttle is a restriction in the first place? I'm betting it isn't.

If I get one that comes through Ill take a measurement for references. Put this mod to bed.

just read this from the treehouse site:

This kit offers a 56% Increase in the airflow to the engine, which produces both increased throttle response and power.
this is utter nonsense. if you increase air flow (or more appropriately, air mass) by 56%, you'd have a 50% increase in horsepower. plus, it's still using a stock intake manifold. it's probably closer to a 2% increase, if that, assuming the manifold isn't choking it off (or that there wasn't a significant pressure drop across the throttle in the first place).

if you like to waste money - go ahead..

No sense being able to get more air in if you can't use it.

                          Lmao @ this customer testimony:

                          "Hi Jon

The throttle is working great.Just seat of the pants, it feels much stronger, able to break the tires loose from a roll in second gear where I could not before. It took me a while, but I finally made it to the drag strip. After only two runs(the track was really crowded) I was able to beat my best time and top speed. My previous best was 12.668 @ 111.01 with the big throttle it went 12.634 @ 111.53.Not a huge improvement, but I was still dialing it in.I'm sure with a little more fuel pressure it can do 12.5's or maybe 12.4's.I can't wait for spring to do some more testing. Thank you.

So if you bore the manifold out then you may see a gain? I'm going to take few measurements and see if that will help.

you need to measure the pressure drop first (MAP on each side of the throttle plate, the % difference is your pressure drop). but no, boring out the TB inlet may not do anything. the point is the manifold itself can only flow so much air, same with the heads - unless you KNOW that your TB is too small, you're pouring money down the drain for mod-list status.

for example, I get ~90kpa above 6500rpm on the manifold side of my M20's throttle body, and 100kpa on the open side. I'm losing about 10% air mass due to a restrictive TB.
