      +1

My M52 swap is running the following:
      - E30 318i M42 radiator
      - Dayco 71901 (This hose can be cut in the center and trimmed to provide both upper and lower radiator hoses)
      - 80deg tstat (I drilled a 1/8 inch hole at 12' o'clock)

      Bleeding method:
Filled coolant through upper radiator hose and overflow tank.
Jacked front end up 1 foot.
Opened bleed screw on radiator and let idle for 15 minutes (or ~ 1 beer).

No issues and coolant gauge never goes above 1/2 way.

When I first completed my swap I had the same issue but I was only using the stock aux fan. I upgraded to the mishi, 80deg tstat, and 16" spal pusher. Even in the extreme Phoenix heat, my needle never gets passed 1/2. Like everyone else said, with the lower tstat and proper bleeding you will be fine, many have done the same setup.
