E36/ZF Shifter Carrier Length?

    E36/ZF Shifter Carrier Length?

    Please refer to the photo, item number 1.



    On the driver side of the carrier is a number saying C=###, does anyone know what that number is! Because I need it! It tells you how far it is from the center of the bitch clip to the center of the hole for the shifter.

    I am trying to find out what this length is on the E36/ZF so I know how much to shorten my E30 lever.

    So if you know what this number is, or have a way to find out easily, please help me out!

      Alright, I was able to get the number off the carrier using a mirror and some lights, haha...

      So here are my results!

      E30 318iS G240 shift carrier is 325mm.
      E36 M3 ZF shift carrier is 248.7mm.

      The difference is 3.004 inches.

                              can you use the E36 ZF carrier in the E30 with no mods?

                              I have a "special" E34 carrier that I need to shorten.

                                  Yeah, but it puts 1st-2nd to the right in the center of the shifter hole.

                                      I was told that with the E36 ZF carrier and shifter it would put 5th right on the edge of the hole, almost not letting it engage. Upgrading to a short shifter or a Z4 shifter fixes this, and a lot shorter throw. :D

                                      I am using my Momo short shifter, I will have my modified carrier and gear selector soon from the machine shop so I can feel it out. I will update me findings.

                                          anyone happen to know the length of the G260 carrier? I know the transmissions are different lengths.

                                              It is stamped on the carrier as C=###.#, I don't have one so unfortunately I can't tell yeah what it be...

                                              It was fun getting it off the E36 ZF as I was laying under my parents' M3 with a mirror and a flashlight, haha.
