Help yoshi finish his S52! *update* 1281 now

Unfortunately, code 1222 seems to be a crap shoot of many possibilities.

    Symptoms:
    CEL
Runs kinda boggy (rich my guess)
car will die if you drive then let off the throttle while driving

I found a massive air leak at first, fixed it and went for another drive but the code stayed. Haven't had time to clear the code and try again though. I feel like it would go away if it was that simple. I can't find a good answer as to what the 1222 means. Could be O2 relay or could be maf leak.

    Setup:
S52 (just installed vanos so maybe it's installed wrong?)
    GTX3576R
    Technica tune/blow through maf
silver 413 with pin 66 snipped
    OBD1 stock E36 harness

1222 is caused by vacuum leaks. Reset the CEL, maybe?

Also try replacing your 02 sensor see if that helps. You either still have a vacuum leak or your 02 sensor's bad. Or probably both..

general consensus I'm finding is that my bov post maf is causing the 1222. Makes sense.

1222 = vacuum leak and hardly ever a bad O2.

If you cannot idle then you have big one somewhere.

yay CEL is gone and the car drives crap tons better. Now it tosses a 1281 now. Maybe the ECU isn't grounded? It is just kinda dangling there. I don't remember the stock DME requiring chassis grounding though.

The ecu does need a ground. Mine would stall every now and then when it wasn't. Not sure I that is the cause of your code tho.

The 318 ecu mounts take care of the ground and dingle berry issue well.

ECU doesnt need to be ground. At least not by mounting it. I had my ECU dangling inside the glovebox for weeks and car was running fine with no codes.

                        Also.

So much conflicting info :( Some say grounding will take care of it while others say nay.

What is there to check on my wiring?

I spent a long ass time staring at diagrams. I'm open to seeing what's wrong if it is. What specifically?
