    VSS delete benefits?

I, like many others, have the bouncing idle when coasting in neutral to a stop. I am assuming this is completely the variable speed sensor and if I bought a chip for the S50 with mods and a VSS delete I would then have a solid idle???

Are there any downsides to doing a VSS delete? Am I correct in my assumptions or am I way off?

I always wondered why my swap did that. I am also curious.

If it;s not wired up, isn't it deleted? :p

He wants a chip that deletes the DME looking for a vss. Of he just doesn't connect the wires he has the same problem, the DME is going to be looking for a signal and not liking what its seeing.

er, why not just hook it up properly?

I'm not thinking it's going to be something easily deleted, since it's built into the idle control algorithm. It makes more sense to simply run the VSS input to the DME.

there are no benefits to deleting VSS. the DME needs the signal.

            wire it up properly.

It is hooked up, thats why I have a bouncing idle when cruising in neurtral, all but 1 of the 6 or 7 E36 M3's I've owned did the same thing, nobody has ever come up with a good reason why these DME's do it or how to stop it or why some random S/< series motors don't do it. Just thought if I was buying a chip why not get rid of it, I haven't had anyone ever give me a reason as to what the benefit of VSS is either, it may be great and critical to max performance but I have no clue.

none of my friends with E36 M3s have a problem with it.

Sounds more like a vacuum leak then a vss issue.

When I first finished my swap, I did nopt have the VSS hooked up. The car would run fine for 5 minutes, then give me a rev limiter at 2500 rpms. I had to disonnect the battery to reset. Then it would run great for another 5 minutes.

I gave a VSS feed to the DME and it solved the issue and ran great. I never dealt with a hunting idle in neutral.

I'm not sure if this has any value here, but the lack of VSS was a huge issue in my swap.

What DME and chip did you use? I had a red label 413 with a stock E36 325i chip and had no vss hooked up and it never had any problems it did not even throw a code. I then replaced the chip latter with a TRM chip and it would throw a code but would not limit anything and ran fine. It is hooked up now through.
