    G240 to M52 bellhousing gap

I just bolted up my M52 to my Getrag 240, and while all the bolt holes line up there are large gaps where the flywheel is exposed. I assume I'm missing some part, however I can't find this piece on line or anywhere. IF the problem is something missing is this piece something that requires removal of the flywheel to install? I know that the starter is missing and will partially fill part of one side however that isn't the problem.

I think your missing the thin metal surround that goes behind the flywheel.

Check to make sure your pilot bearing is correct. G240s had two different size input shaft pilot bearing part.

Not the problem, I have the correct bearing. I am missing the sheet metal plate. I found the part number which is 11141734019

I believe you want the one that goes with the g240. As I used my g260 one with my g260.

I think you may have something mixed up? a flex plate is for auto transmissions.

I am not sure what the correct name for it is. BMW calls it a "covering plate" I call it "the gasket thing between the bell housing and engine block"

Well physically there is onely one difference between the two.

One has an access hole with a rubber plug, and the manual doesn't.

                    Are they interchangeable then?, Hmmmm.

However unless the gap is only 1-2mm's, then this is not the issue and the pilot is likely not lining up to the input shaft or are too small of an ID on the bearing.
