So the more research I do leads me to believe that my DME has EWS. So I can either buy a Jim C chip, or preferably a maroon label 413. Anyone have one they wanna sell me?
Just called my buddy who sold me the harness and ecu. It is a 413. I am working on the car now, and still no good results. So this is where im at.
-All relays are working and getting power.
-Coils are getting a constant 12 in one pin, but when turned over nothing in any other pins.
-ECU is getting a full 12
-I have grounded the coils to the strut tower
-injectors arent getting any power
ews .... almost guaranteed. had the same problem on my first conversion 2 years ago. spent a month checking continuity, power, signals and grounds. if you have fuel pressure, good compression, the crank position is sending a signal and your getting power as indicated.....id say its ews.
then i learned about the dreaded silver label 413. swapped ecu's.....drove off into the sunset ....and lived happily ever after.
Care to further explain the way to get around EWS jordan?
Well that all depends.
1/94 on cars were equiped with EWS I. Very easy to disable, as said a single wire need be jumped and it is for all intents disabled. I wish I could state which wire it is.. but for one... thats not in my best interest, and that of the EWS I owners out there. Also (and more importantly) I can't remember which wire it is.
5/95 on cars recieved EWS II, a EWS that actually works this time. Most chip tuners will provide you with a chip suitable for bypassing the EWS and releasing the DME to do engine management stuff.
EWSIII is really gay.

Sick, I have read something about snipping the green wire on pin #66. But I also heard that it dosent work. I think Im just gonna go for the correct DME. Thanks, Ben
Just do a WTB thread for a stock M50 chip. I'm sure there are several laying around from people that have put in performance chips. Much cheaper than another DME.
Umm, a stock chip from maroon tag 413 fixes the problem? I havent heard that yet. I am going to clip pin #66 tomorrow and see if that will work for me. If not, new DME time.
Any non-EWS chip will make the DME non-EWS, therefore making your car work. A stock chip would sell for like, $20 shipped instead of the $150+ you're going to pay for a new computer.

Then I couldent run aftermarket software (ie. AA Stage 2 turbo software)
Uhhhh, aftermarket software will work. You are replacing the EWS in the DME, so there is no more EWS. AA chip, Turner, MarkD, etc will all work with the DME you currently have.
Before you jump headlong into the ECU stuff, check your power and ground connections on the engine harness one more time. We tried for a good 30 minutes with various relay swapping, etc. on Spoon's car, only to find out we had a power wire grounded by mistake. Hooked 'er up and it kicked over on the first try.
