Been searching everywhere and can't find the answer. Does anybody know if the AUTOMATIC NON VANOS m50 ecu's had a rev liniter or not. Want to know before I finish my swap whether I need to buy a limiter or find a new ecu

I'm pretty sure all fuel injected BMW's come with a rev limiter, I mean I could be wrong, but to my understanding all of them should have one.1990 332i, 4 door

 buy a limiter?

all of them have it - you can't "remove" the rev limit, but you could raise it way higher than the engine is capable of.. if you can program the DME, that is.Comment

Possibly not, a friend had a 325e with a dinan (I think, may be wrong on that) chip that had no limiter. Needless to say his engine didn't like it very much when he was accelerating hard and hit a ice patch...
But if it's a stock ECU you have a limiter, no doubt.Comment

It always has a limiter. It may be raised higher than you ever reved it, but it still has one. You cant turn it "off".

Also, automatic e30s dont have different DMEs - and they have limiters too.Comment
