^Well, I'm just going by the fact that the guy you intend to buy this stuff from was collecting parts for an e36, and an e36 differential will not work with an e30.

It will, but you need to swap it into an e30 case.

I have an e30 case I can use, I've got my stock diff in my 325i now and a 3.91 laying around. I'll have to look into this further.
