I made it myself.... seriously. The plates that are mounted on my strut towers are the only thing I didnt fab, just modified... it used to be a sparco bar :) I found that the e36 harness/sparco strut bar weren't gonna jive..... So I made my own..... it is nice n rigid too :)

Nice work on that bar - it looks great.

Why did you use hinges instead of welds where the bar meets the brackets?

Probably makes for faster removal, if necessary. I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

I'm picking my motor up in a week. I'm so fucking excited I could shit.

I never thought of that. But aren't the welded ones more rigid than the hinged? Kinda defeats the purpose, no?

I don't see how, you're talking about lateral forces on the brace. If the two towers moved up and down independently of each other, I could see the design having issues. While they might in the ever-so-smallest amount, it's not enough to decrease the lateral effectiveness of it.

I know, but the p/s, water pumper/alternator and crank are on 1 belt.

                    If I delete p/s I need a shorter belt.

Is it normal to cut the old battery tray to fit the 24 valve? I see some do it and some dont. Maybe in overlooking the situation.
