So I just started it up with the new exhaust, and it is way too loud. Going to weld on a resonator right now.

What are the chances of copying just the downpipes? I'll be running 2.5" piping to a small universal cat then out through an E30 Stromung cat-back, but I could probably get the mid section fabbed up at work.

I just did the exact same thing for my car. It sounds great under 2.5k, but after that it gets really raspy and sounds shitty. I am also going to be putting a resonator on very soon. Go us.

So I put a resonator on. It sounds real sweet. Perfect match of nice low tone at low rpm's, and bat out of hell when you get on it. By buddy has a '05 STI which is where I got the resonator from for FREE. He gave me the entire STI midpipe which is mandrel 2.5 stainless with a resonator, fits perfect, woo hoo.

Was your exhaust really raspy before the resonator installation? Mine sounds like a bunch of ratteling cans after 2.5k

How low is the exhaust gonna be right by the rear subframe? When I built mine I had to crush the pipe and then widen it so I didn't lose ground clearance.
Thats a good idea. I will plan on doing this to my m20 setup.

Yeah mine was horrendous before an 18" resonator. Even with its pretty loud at WOT.

Where did you get the joint right infront of the muffler? Ive been looking for one off and on (not real hard) for when I weld an exhaust up. Did you just get it off another car or can you buy them? Thanks.
