      Im still having the same problem. I unplugged my tps and the problem is less severe but I'm still looking for a fix.

        I'm waiting for my tps to get shipped in. If this doesn't fix it then I'm going to try new can and crank sensors but I'll let you know if it fixes it or not.

            Just ordered new cam and crank sensors and got a whole new set of coil pack boots. These are the last things I can think of to do.

                It sounds like a lack of fuel issue to me.. Maybe a clogged/old filter.

                  I have a new fuel filter and it gets plenty of fuel because it runs really rich. Why do you think its the chip? I have a trm chip programmed for the correct injectors and obd1 wiring harness. Who would you recommend getting a chip through?

                    Are you sure it's rich and not lean? Contrary to common sense, backfires are usually an indication of a lean condition.

                    Have you done a smoke test or a VERY thorough inspection for vacuum leaks? Checked your fuel pressure during the "fall on the face" moment? That's where my money is.

                      My spark plugs still smell like gas if I take them out after running the car. I've tested the fuel pressure at idle and under load but I haven't while driving but it was good. And I've tested the vacuum and also sprayed carb cleaner around all vacuum lines and all around the intake and there aren't any leaks at all.
                      If you're not going to do it right, please don't take it out on your car!

                            Nah the plugs are fine.
                            It's really odd. It really sounds like TPS to me but you've already changed that.
                            If it's running super rich though... have you tried out the stock chip? You're sure the TRM is for 21#? Do you have a narrowband AFR gauge you could hook up, or a wideband o2 you could borrow?

                              i called trm when i first got my build done and talked to them and they said that it isn't the chip. it's tuned correctly for everything. when i put in the stock chip it still does it too.

                                Because if it was just a tune for the stock injectors, it would cause the extremely rich running and possible power loss. Was just an idea.
                                What about that o2 gauge? Even a multimeter would work, just jam it between the o2 feedback wire (green wire I think on the ECU, please double check I am probably wrong) and a ground and read the voltage. That will give you an idea of how stoichiometric mixture
