    AKG Harness Adapter Compatibility

Im buying an M50 with harness, DME, and trans right out of a 525i. My question is will the AKG adapter work with the 5 series engine and harness? Also what does it mean when it says it does not support the onboard check control for the oil level?

    Thanks

5 series harness is shorter than E36 so you wont be able to mount ECU correctly

It will work though. That's what I used with my swap.

E34 harness sucks balls. I wish I would have known it wouldn't mount properly when I did my swap.

Yes, it will work, regardless of E34/E36 harness. I recommend an E36 harness though.

E34 harness is a little funky. Its short on the DME end and long on the sensor end. It works, but it isn't very "clean" looking IMO. The nice thing is the oil level sensor is built into the harness.

Looked on ebay and it looks like i can sell the e34 harness and pick up an e36 harness for the same price, I assume I can directly swap the e34 harness with the e36?

Its easier to add the level sensor wiring than deal with all the other problems. Its not worth it for that one thing.

I agree, the E34 harness sucks.
