You know, I actually thought about that. Truth.
But then I would have to deal with Canadians.
And thats too close to Chicago.
I do need a couple of things sorted out.. as far as cleaning up the wiring harness, taking out the auto tranny controls.. what not to cut.
Also if anyone has done an 89+ swap, let me know about the wiring please.
It is apparently different than the older models. As far as I've seen, easier to work with.
I just want everything else to be kosher by the time I get the engine mount.
This can all be solved, like most things in life, relatively easily. Set the whole fucking thing on fire. Just burn it right the fuck to the ground. Then, make up a bunch of lies about it like, I dunno, it got hit by lightning, electrical short somewhere, etc. They'll be none the wiser, and as a bonus, you will no longer be in trouble because you replaced the car, it just so happened to catch on fire. Act of god, not your fault. When in doubt, take the religous angle, god wanted the car on fire. How can they blame you?

Lol that may be the best idea evar.
I already tried that, the kid was helping me last night and I was on the phone with my girl and told her that I "sacrificed him on the E30 and burnt the whole thing." I think he thought I was serioius.
You know what, I'm gonna make it work regardless of all these shortcomings.
But the asshat whom we shal refer to as "waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles", did not get the title for the car.... and he was given 2 months. Now I'm trying to hunt down the neccesary paperwork and I'm getting the "I'm waiting on ____" answer from everyone.
Like you all have said. I'm fuxxored.
At the least you guys are cheering me up.
After this is done I will have enough writeup to make sure nobody gets into this without understanding EXACTLY what goes on in the process.
I'm still trying to find an E36 engine bracket.
Lock your E36s in the garage... I'm going hunting.
So guess what.
The kid is pissed.
His parents have to be pissed.
They flew down here only to drive a rental car back. WTF?
All this because he didn't tell his parents the truth until they got here.
Now I have all summer to pour all of the money that I might possibly make into this piece, and hopefully make it better.
Then again I'm not all for that, and I tried my best to either fix the 6 or make this car but I've been shafted all the way.
I think project hours for both the 6 and the 3 are in the hundreds now.
Give me a plan, a deadline, sufficient funding, and I'll make one for you.
But this, this is crap.
Damn dude, I'd buy you a drink but you're in GA. :)
Thanks! I would take you up on that, but I'm dirty.
IMPORTANT!! If anyone has done a 95 or so M50 swap could you please let me know what your wiring diagram is?
I had it cranking with partial wires... I might have to dc some til it runs.
Another tale:
2 people screwing with the engine w/m20 engine brackets took 3 hours.
Correct engine brackets took me alone only 15 min. from engine on ground - to - completely bolted in.
Then I fabbed a trans mount.
So everything except the MC and resivoir are installed. Ok well the cooling sys and random body pieces are still off. But that wont help me start the car.
do you have the stock e30 wiring harness??? if you do figure out what pin on the body goes to what sensor or part(you need a $10 multimeter for this)
then figure out what pins on the e36 harness go to the corresponding sensors on the m50 engine that you used on the m20... then connect like pins... i hope that made sense...
if all else fails try the 2 pin charts i posted at the end of the sticky thred in this forum... i have done 2 swaps... s50 325is and s52 es.... both had slightly different wiring
p.s.... my theory(just a theory) is that non airbag cars all have the same conector and all airbag cars have the same connector but a different one from nonairbag... this is just a theory
