    E34 Harness 02 sensor question

I am using an E34 Harness for my swap and noticed that the length on the 02 connector (harness side) is extremely short.

Should I cut and extend the harness side or lengthen the 02 sensor?

I also thought I read that the e34 sensor is longer to accommodate this.. can somebody confirm?

Use an 02 sensor from an M50 (e35 525i I believe) instead of the s50. They are longer, cheaper, and work fine. This is what I am using on my swap.

The e34 sensor quite a bit of length on its wiring to accommodate for the short harness plug length. However, since I had just replaced the O2 for the m20 with a boshch universal unit, I'll probably splice and extend it to fit.

Also,@f4t0n - meant to get back to your text, but which check valve did you use on the 944 booster vacuum line?

As far as I can tell we're pretty close in progress on our swaps, try & get a first start video up!

bumping this back up, because I thought I had a E34 o2 and needed to buy a E36 instead.

My problem is that my o2 is currently plugged into my OBD2 exhaust manifold, but Im replacing the OBD2 exhaust manifolds with OBD1 exhaust manifolds which wont have the o2 sensor spot. Im using a E34 harness, and need the o2 to plug into the S50 downpipe to make the BAR happy.

does the E34 o2 have the longer wiring for the o2 or E36? I will look through my receipts for part #s and hopefully that will help clear up this issue

edit: Just looked through realoem and the E34 is definitely the longer harness if the notes in there are correct. According to realoem, the E34 has a length of 1450mm and the E36 has a length of 420mm

2nd edit: the E34 unit was more than long enough to go to the S50 downpipes o2 spot.

        Hope this helps others out...
