so should I change out my pilot bearing????

I have the m20 tranny and m50 motor/pilot bearing. it fit in fine so i don't see where there would be a difference....

i think you should change it cause it's probably worn, and you have everything apart so why not

the one for the m50, the shaft fits into it just fine

Edit: I jsut realized using a 260 with the m50, you should switch the pilot bearing to the m20 pilot bearing. The shaft for the 260 is smaller than the ZF. So i ended up using the one that came with the clutch kit.

I'm ripping it all out again in a month, so I'll get a new one then.

Im bumping this super OG thread because I have a pilot bearing issue

This OEM part # 11211720310 is suppose to be the pilot bearing for m50 with a G250 trans.

So that part # cross references to this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...h&fromType=oem Which I just went down and bought today.

The problem is this part doesnt fit. The bearing size is to small the accept the transmission input shaft.

So if this part # is wrong then what pilot bearing do I need?

They probably gave you the wrong one, or have it listed wrong (why I avoid store front parts stores for BMW parts). The part number matches the large diameter input shaft. The g240, g250 and zf all have the same size bearing ID, and the part number they cross reference shows as the large diameter in realoem:

So, their part number is right, part is wrong.

Got it sorted out today. You are correct. figured Id leave this here for others if anyone ever has an issue.

The inner diameter of the pilot bushing needed for the larger input shaft is .572 not .473
