    M52 rear main help

I just changed the rear main seal on my m52. Everything seems to be good with no leaking. Then when I attach the transmission it starts leaking like crazy. So I pulled the transmission back out and no more leak. Last night I put the transmission back in for the second time and its leaking like crazy as soon as i tighten down the tranny bolts. What could this be?

I will be pulling the transmission back out again tonight. I will check to see if there is any play in the crank.

It only leaks when I tighten the bell housing bolts. Loosen them up and the leak stops.

Are you sure its the rear main? Sounds like you could be pulling the PAN off the block some how if its due to tightening the bellhousing bolts.

The oil pan bolts are torqued to spec so I wouldn't imagine thats the issue but i will double check them. Im getting ready to start on it soon. I replaced the rear main and housing gasket again last night just to be 100 percent sure.
