Am i missing anything (build list)

Hey everyone. I am trying to put together a "master list" so to speak for myself. I am looking to order all (or most) of the parts I need when my next commission comes in this month. This is the list I have so far. am I missing anything so far?

    -m50 intake manifold
    -wiring harness adapter
    -944 brake booster
    -e34 oil pan + dipstick
    -e34 oil pickup
    -oil pan gasket
    -e36 engine mounting arms
    -trans mount bracket
-engine and trans swap mounts (preferred brand?)
    -ebay headers
    -intake of some sort
-new shifter linkage due to angle (uuc?)
-custom a/c lines (can get done locally)
-ms41.1 and some sort of tuning (preferred vendor?)
    -water pump
    -thermostat
    -spal electric fan
    -new radiator (suggestions?)
    -valve cover gasket
    -bigger MAF
    -bored throttle body
    -e34 throttle cable

Does it looks like I am missing anything? I can't think of anything else aside from maybe new radiator hoses...

    -Fan Switch - 6131136427282
    -318 ECU Mounts - 12141727500
    12141727498
    12141727499
    -Rethreaded Coolant sensor
-You'll need some kit for the M50 manifold. M50Manifold.com is a popular one.
-Header install kit (your gaskets, studs, and nut are almost surely rusted and trash) - http://www.bimmerworld.com/Exhaust/M...stall-Kit.html
-Radiator from Z3M from S54 Z3M's (seems to be consensus on beat option) - 17112227281
-Fuel rail (best option: get from a 97 528 as it has the built in FPR)
-You didn't mention Driveshaft... (Should probably replace center support bearing and guibo)

    OPTIONAL but should get done:
-Guessing you'll wanna do spark plugs
    -Pilot Bearing -11211720310
-Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal (Behind Flywheel)- 11142249533
-Rear Crank Seal Cover Gasket - 11141432240
    -Transmission output shaft seal

Good luck and enjoy your swap.

Thanks for the input. is there a reason I would need a new fuel rail? I have an m52b28 out of an e39 and I have the fuel rail and pink top injectors from it.

Nope, if you got your engine out of a 528 you're probably all set. Take a look at your fuel rail and see if it has the fuel pressure regulator at the end on the back.

For a visual, go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_0411 and check if you have part number 6 already in part number 1.

Ill take a look when I get home today. I can't remember if it has the FPR on it or not, but I'm thinking it does.

I just realized I said the front crank seal, ignore that. It's a pain in the ass to get to and might be more work than it's worth. I'm gonna edit my original post to take that out.

Good to know. I am planning on putting in all new seals and gaskets where I can and potentially do cams as well.

Where in FL are you? We may finish our swaps around the same time. I'm in Tampa, swapping an S52 into my 87 Vert. Granted I've only throwing about 2 hours a week at it, lol.

Oh, and I'm sure you're planning on it, but don't forget to secure your oil pump nut when you're doing the oil pan.

If you have a running losses fuel rail and 3/2 way valve unit, you can use that (and it's theoretically a better system) but the integrated FPR early e39 or OBD1 rails are easier to install.

Also, I wouldn't bother with a bigger maf, unless maybe if you do the bigger TB... but honestly S50/52 cams would be around the same price and net you way more HP.

Splicing a C101 onto the engine harness looks way cleaner than a big adapter in the end. Just a thought.

If by running losses fuel rail, you are referring to a return style fuel system, then I think thats what I have.

This fuel rail I was given with the motor does not appear to have an integrated fuel pressure regulator. Did the e36 motors not have the integrated FPR? The casting numbers on the block indicated it was from a 528i, but the guy I bought the motor form told me he was told that it came from an e36...And the plot thickens...

An as far as the MAF, I was thinking about doing cat or schtick cams potentially, so I thought a bigger maf, throttle body, and potentially injectors might be a good thing.

So I have been doing some searching. It sounds like I would be better off getting an e39 m52 or an e36 m50 fuel rail with an integrated FPR? I looked up the diagram on real OEM for what should have come on a 328i and the 3/2 control valve s something I don't have and doesn't look like it would be easy to plumb in.

The only rail with the integrated FPR is the early E39 one. E36 M50's or any M50's for that matter did not come with an integrated FPR. I have an M50 rail available if you're interested, I'm in Tampa. You'd have to use an M50 FPR with it. Otherwise, if you locate a 97 528i, you can use the rail/FPR from that. See quote below:

OBD2 cars (atleast the s52 cars, you'll have to double check for m52's) use a remote FPR and running loss valve that is mounted to the Frame rail. You can keep this or use a m50 OBD1 Fuel rail and FPR along with the M50 intake manifold (for a little power gain. Info about this everywhere, see step 5 also).
Only mod needed is a bend of the tabs on the m50 fuel rail that block the s52 harness from plugging into the injectors. Bending these tabs will no longer allow you to run a fuel rail beauty cover.........
