HELP! What throwout bearing do I need?

As some of you many know if you follow my build thread, I've just melted a piston in my M50NV turbo build. Because of this I am going to be pulling the engine/trans and I'm going to address some other issues during that process.

One of these issues is the throwout bearing. The PO who did the swap clearly did something wrong because it rattled like crazy when the clutch pedal was out, and it was a fresh swap. So i'm wondering if anyone knows which throwout bearing I need for my M50 and G260 combination?

I believe this to be correct... can anyone confirm?

    Thanks!

What clutch flywheel you using? What weight is the flywheel? You are probably getting flywheel chatter. Super light flywheel and unsprung clutch discs cause this.

I do have a lightened flywheel and a stage 3 clutch. The sound is just so annoying! I did not know that could be the cause. Is this probably the case?

Is there a way to still test the throwout bearing when I pull the setup?

The bearing should spin freely with zero play. It's best to use an oem BMW unit. If you could tell me the weight of the flywheel and maybe a link to the current clutch you are running. Also what transmission.

It's called the Getrag Ratlle and will happen with LTW FW's and idle below ~1000rpm.

Not sure of either of those. Bought the car with the M50 and Getrag 260 swap. I was told that it was a lightweight flywheel and stage 3 clutch. No names were given. did the whole turbo build myself. Want to pull it apart and do it right this time.

I dunno if "normal" is the right word but it seems that alot of people have the same issue as these boxes age. Mine rattles too (getrag 260), I dont have a cold idle up so when it first starts in the morning it sits around 500rpm and it really rattles. Bad enough that i thought at first id done a bottom end.

Comes good when its hot as it idles around 1000.

Getrag boxes have been known for years to rattle with light flywheels, it's not unique to the e30...

Many other boxes do it too. Rebuilt a Theta engine in a Haundai GenCoupe a few years ago with forged internals. Owner had some fancy super light puck clutch kit in it and the gentleman working at the time thought for sure we did something wrong in the rebuild. I let him believe it and sweat for a few minutes before depressing the clutch pedal lol.

Awesome! Haha. Mine goes away when the pedal is depressed as well. Sounds like I'm in good shape
