    tony,
does the engine have excessive movements?

was going to fabricate some aluminium cup mounts, but will first gauge the design, and if its really worth getting it fabricated

or should i just get urethane e34 mounts?

the engine barely moves when i rev the engine up, the e28/e34 mounts have steal carriers that the rubber sits in which limits the about of compression of the rubber

Ireland lists urethane motor mounts for E36 6-cyl cars ie M50/52 engines.

Mine sits abit more infront compared to my other pals m50 conversions, causing the tight space between the rad n fan, due to the tropics, i need to run both fans - did a test just running the aux fan alone, the temp went way up to 3/4 and it scared the shit out of me......

so back to getting the motor mounts firm yet flexible without flexing too much, thats why the idea of the aluminium cups came about
The e30 motor mounts had them, but none for the e34, was just thiking of fabricating the cups up to 3/4 the length of it to reduce movement.....

Out of interest, what 6spd box are you using?

Euro E36 M3 Evo, shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern for all the M5xxx engines

OK WTF is the deal with these mounts? I ordered e28 M5 mounts and got 2 different ones. One black angular one like I have seen in pics, and this one.

Those mounts must be HOTTTT for you to have a potholder right behind it.

There are two styles of mounts. The M5 ones are the green ones with the metal brackets. The cylindrical one is a 535i mount. At least, that is what I recall when I ordered mine up.

This is the same image he pulled up at the shop. They use two mounts on the m5&m6. Angular one on the resting side, Big stiff solid one on the torque side.

We need to update the wiki to reflect this for our future swappers. ;)

I was looking around for stiffer engine mounts while I was doing my swap but now that I have seen how stiff the e28 mounts are I know why no one offers poly mounts. The whole car shakes before the engine does.

You can get the e28 5 series urethane motor mounts from IE for $98 a pair.
