Manifolds aren't the issue, the downpipes are. I seem to remember that OBDI will fit with no washers, but you'll have to jack up the motor to install the downpipes.

Charlie, I have those mounts in my swapped car and they fit fine. IE makes them, thats where Car gets them I would source them from IE. They are uber stiff hit me up with any questions

Timely post, and thanks for the info lordofmpower - I've been looking for a stiffer and hopefully more durable version of the e28 green mounts before doing my swap, after a couple people reported their green mounts needing replacement after 1-2 years.

I really cant see these ever needing replacement with any NA M/S50 motor. They are really really big mounts I was suprised and worried if they would fit or not, but no worries. + i have billet aluminum tranny mounts on a super beefy tranny brace i welded up and its not goign anywhere either. somehow the car stilll doesn't vibrate to bad. I couldn't be happier with them but then again I daily drive the car on Jstocks and Jstock evo billys so i am biased when is comes to stiff and comfort

now when I finish the other motor i have on the stand... ehh motor mounts won't be the only thing breaking

so did you use the IE m42 or e28 mounts? or are they exactly the same?

Ok so this is what has been bothering me...

I recently purchased brand new hydraulic mounts for my m42 motor... in case anyone doesn't know, these fucking things are $90 a pop. I bought them because I DID NOT like the stiffness of the E28 535i mounts.

That being said, will I experience the same stiffness with the M50 motor...

                    OR

Is it possible for me to keep these awesomely expensive M42 engine mounts?

Ordered E28 M5 units for my swap.

Just think about it this way M3 Hydraulic units are more expensive.

Dude, I have no problem spending the money for the hydraulic units...I want comfort not fucking vibrations like my m42 used to have with 535i mounts.

You could try and use the 740i hydraulic mounts they are significantly less.

I think that you're not understanding my dilemma here.

I want to know if I can keep my M42 engine mounts rather than getting the stiffer E28 535i mounts again.

I don't care about the COST of the mount, I care about the comfort.

                              I don't know anyone using M42 mounts for a 24V swap.

Haha, well then, thats what I'm asking!

I haven't seen anyone post anything but the bloody E28 535i or E34 M5 engine mounts..

I'm curious to know if anyone actually used a hydraulic mount.
