What year is your motor? I know BMW changed the functionality of their EWS system a few times in the e36's. dont know if just cutting the ews wire would be enough.

Well, I'm pretty sure I mentioned this (maybe not in this thread), but this is the motor from my E36 M3 which I ran with this exact setup for almost two years.

So I know it works. I just don't know what might have happened along the line of pulling the motor and what not. Now that I think about it, I might have possibly ruined the CKPS at some point by it hitting things on uninstall or install of the engine.

Well, I just ordered a new on and should have it by tommorrow hopefully so I'll keep you guys updated.

Well, replaing the CKPS didn't do shit.

I just realized something though that might help finding out my problem. I get no CEL when KOEO (key on engine off)

          IT STARTED!!!

It appears my chip was indeed fried. After noticing the CEL wasn't coming on, I remembered that with the 506 chips I had tried earlier were giving me a CEL.

So I tossed in the 506 chip in again. Turn the key on, fuel pump not priming. I think, "oh well, at least I can see if it has spark." But before I go to take out one of my plugs I give it a crank, and BOOM, the car roared into life and almost gave me a heart attack (open header).

At that point I realized that the old chips must not turn the fuel pump on when KOEO, but when it's actually running.

Well, I'm about to order another Stickley chip since none of the 506's I have are for my mod list.

          Oh, anyone need a CKPS :p ?

            Congrats!

I sorta gave myself a scare when I first started my own car. It took a few cranks because the fuel system wasn't fully primed, and I cracked open the throttle body because I thought it was an air delivery problem.

Anyway, my car roared to life on open headers with the sound richocheting around the garage at around 10pm.

Yeah, hearing it run for the first time is usually pretty memorable... I remember exactly who was there, how it went, what the problems were for ///Mpressive's car, my 2002, my e30... every car I've ever worked on...

I got the oh shit face when mine fired I shut it down right away. something about that rumble with no headers and a lope from no O2 that weirded me out.

I still drove it down the street and scared small children.

I wonder how it would work out if I stuck my O2 in the bung on one of my long tubes... haha. I'm expecting it to fire up soon as well.

What do you mean? It looks like you have the same headers as I do and I just put my O2 in one of the bungs that made it easiest to route the O2 wire.

I meant when I start the motor on open headers. I will use the midpipe crossover location for the O2 during normal use.

When you talk to CSS, lemme know. I'd like to run his OBD1 tune. Maybe we can arrange a group order.
