Engine won't turn over, VANOS stuck?

Now I'm really interested in this, at this point I'd lift the cams out (valves will close ) and roll the engine over by hand. The chains won't matter at this point. Keep us informed. good luck joe

Thanks for all the help guys, I know for a fact that the crank spins freely with the oil pan on, but when it was on the stand, the harmonic balancer wasn't on and neither was the flywheel. After the head went on I didn't try to turn it until it was in the car.

Did you remove the a/c pulley from the engine? I did this, and but then the bolts were too long for just the crank pulley/harmonic balancer, and it would only rotate a little ways before getting jammed into the block.

That is true. However, I would settle for one beer if he pours it into a liquid safe envelope and ships it to me. But please use USPS, otherwise I'll get hit with silly duty charges as it passes the border. :D
