read the post. The engine was out of a rollover car. And if it was moneyshifted, the head wouldn't be good.

dont feel too bad. i bought my s50 offa CHP officer, who drove the motor up to me. a month later i opened the motor up to replace gaskets and whatnot, to discover a blown headgasket, and a need for full valve job. seller said the motor was 80K off a running auto that was rear ended. yeah. he never responded to one email or phone call.

Sorry to hear about that btw. Any clarification from treehouse on the harness?

this was a real bummer for carl but for me this whole experience at carls was worse. i was kept in the garage all weekend with little food or water in 100+ degree heat. i felt like i was in a viet cong prison camp and when i was let out for food it was like running the Yangtze Gauntlet. i swear the only thing missing was the punji sticks. i dont think i would have made it out alive if it wernt for his wife. when he dropped me at the airport he opened the window and yelled "and dont come back" at the top of his lungs. there were hundreds of people around and i was totally humiliated.

thanks guys. i found another motor in florida that should be getting shipped out today so i should be back in business pretty soon.
i'm going to part out the other motor and should make most of my money back.

                  glad you got the wheels.
treehouse hasn't really been much help. their troubleshooting advice is to find an e36 and see what the wiring looks like on that car.

don't listen to him. the first night i gave him all the spgna he could drink and we bbqd 2" thick filets. the second night we fed him 2 lbs of king crab legs. he was such a pig that we actually swatted my wife's hand out of the way when she reached for one. he grabbed the plate with the legs on it and wrapped his arm around it like a caveman. i would have been pissed if it wasn't so embarassing. my wife didn't get to eat dinner that night.

Dude it may have just been the nose of the crank. Pending a compression check, leakdown, ect - it could be determined that you only needed a crank.

                        Damn that sucks.

I worried a lot about things like that when I was swapping mine in. Mainly because a russian did own the fucking thing lol. Actually I was more worried about having cams in it right before the test fire. 95///M3 on BFC did the swap and didn't know the motor had cams and blew the head apart.

Turned out though the engine runs like a champ and I haven't had any major issues.

I dunno, he said there was schrick cams in there and he didn't have the software. And the head cracked from it.

I suppose actually thinking on that... it doesn't make much sense why it would crack rather than just run bad. I never gave it much though actually as to why.
