damn, now i cant decide whether to use the getrag240 i have sitting around, or the getrag 260 i also have sitting around. is the 260 any beefier than the 240?
if there are no benefits to the 260, then imma use that 240...IG: @Baye30

Yes the 240 can be ran with less hassles ..like the trans brace and the linkake issues .
But the 260 is rated for higher torque ratings .....not sure on the actual numbers right now .
(although I do remember mention of the 240 and 260 maybe repesenting on the torque ratings ??)
I would say that a M50 is no problem for the 240 but the 3.0 or 3.2 might eventually present problems if repeated high RPM launches are performed .
Having said that .....I'm about to start a 24v swap on next years auto-x car and I'll be running the Getrag 240 with lightened M20 flywheel, E30 6cyl driveshaft and E30 6cyl shift carrier and linkage .Comment

i just finished mine and im using the 240 w/ stock tranny mounts but i put a spacer underneath the mount. also you have to use a e36 325 manual driveshaft. and as asubimmer said you have to use a 325 shifter carrier and linkage. im also using a m20 flywheel and clutch w/ a m20 starter. my one suggestion would be to use a 3.73 lsd cuz with the 4.10 you fly though all the gears way too quickly and i top out at about 120-135 its kinda annoying when you kill STIs off the line and then the top end your hitting the rev limiter. lol..
o ya stock guibo will be just fine
ill post some pics of my tranny mounts w/ the spacers
ps. thanks asubimmer for all your help w/ my swap

As Long as its the later E30's, all the (small 1,4kW) starter motors should be the same. They were the same units between my E30/M40, and E36/M52! Down to the part number!
The mount is the same for all of them into the bellhousing, the only thing you have to be careful of is that the teeth on the starter and flywheel mesh.
I had a massive hassle, ran the old M20 fw with the older, fine teeth, would only work with the old whale-of-a-starter fitted to the series-1's, which hit the inlet manifold
Hey 318isbmw, how did your EWS stuff go? I seem to remember you had ECU issues a few weeks back???Comment

Anyway, one has a little hole, one has a big hole. You Gotta get it right!
I used an M20 pilot bearing, on an M52 with a G260. It works.Comment
