I wish treehouse had an exchange program where you send them a wiring harness and they put an e30 connector on it and send it back. I would be all over that. Well, not for myself, but I would tell everybody to do that.

For the record, I still throw stuff. Just not because of my wiring...

I run a shop, I won't usually tell a customer much till I see dollar signs. I called thes guys a LONG time ago, and, they where fine with shooting the shit on the m/s5X swap. I decided to buy their product on that fact alone. Plus, I really needed some green in my engine bay...;)Comment

I had a very good transaction with treehouse when i got a 320 booster from them. If i didnt want to do my own wireing or couldnt figure it out i wouldnt hesitate to looking to them again. Other than the fact that i got the inquisition from them about not wanting their eyeball arms i have nothing but good stuff to say.
Also its very dissapointing to hear about the shoddy AKG part. I was looking to get some parts from them in the near future but this makes me question their quality.e30sport.net

Every other part I have seen from AKG has looked great. All of those things were urethane products though.Comment

i also have had good experience with them(brake booster and motor mounts. the brake booster came pre modified and looks brand spanking new. and the price is comparable to a new 320i booster , then the fact that you have to modify it and if you mess up well then you have to go buy another booster. they told me to send them 1 foot of my engine harness and connector and they would make me a adapter. so obviously your going to get used parts back. same as if you where to make your own adapter, its used but you have no head aches of does this wire go there does this wire go here. i am still debating on who to use because i have a 85e with the grey square plug not the round plug like most of you and there doesnt seem to be any info out there on how to wire a 85 e.to a m501985 s50b30, 91 front and rear valence, e30 m3 suspension, advance design coilovers, GC camber caster plates full solid bushings alla round, adjustable rear arms, ireland sways front and back, ireland big brake kit front and back , team dynamics wheels, 24lb injectore ltw fly, intake , headers, exhaust, so forth so on......Comment

OK,since my name got tossed about in this thread, I figured I might as well speak up on the whole "Solder vs. Crimp" thing. Again.
Cliff notes (for you ADD lamers): crimp is best, Solder is second unless you are a hack, shitty solder is better than shitty crimps, and wire nuts are fucking pointless, go die. In an electrical fire, if possible.
Solder WILL ALWAYS "wick" inside the wire for an inch or so, as will flux. No matter what you do or how you do it, the flux is corrosive. This is why every 10 year old solder joint you see is corroded under the insulation for an inch or two.
This is where solder loses to crimping, and why every auto manufacturer no longer solders its wires UNLESS NECESSARY FOR STRESS RESISTANCE!
Somehow, I don't see much physical stress being placed on an engine wiring harness, so I would likely say that a quality crimp is adequate.
A quality crimp is made using quality "seamess" connectors (3M is best, automotive wise) and a top quality crimp tool...not the pile of shit vinyl connectors and the stamped steel crimpers your Dad picked up at the auto parts store...ChannelLock makes a great set of crimpers for about $20, Snap-On is about $50, Thomas & Betts and Ideal are both around $30. All are cast metal, no cheapass stamped jusk.
Now, on to the "resistance" debate. Solder has higher resistance, period. If you think otherwise, quit thinking like that. If you think your average $100 DVM is gonna measure that connection, wrong again. That is not the real issue, though. The real issue is that the solder connection will become MUCH higher resistance when it corrodes, after a period of time.
This is the issue: Crimping is better over time.
As far as anyone "not buying" my theory, I make more wire connections (in a car) in a week than most of you will do in your entire lifetime. I have been making these connections for a living for 28 years...longer than most of you have been breathing. I make my living, piss poor as it is, by making these connections...so I would think just going by the voice of experience, you would believe my fucking word...but if not, go read other peoples opinions, and good fucking luck.
