FYI: AKG converted my harness (He is local) and everything has been fine. A little over two years and no issues whatsoever. Best money I spent on my swap, no headaches

      I might, I hate wiring though...lol

Plus, for $200 its really no big deal. Whats another couple hundred when I've already spent about 5k on the motor/turbo setup. :)

THR does make the adapters for the early cars with the square plugs btw.

"We make the adapter so that you can plug one end into the engine and the other into the chassis and start it up! Certain cars and motors require a few extra wires that you may hook up - for example: 88 and 89 e30's have an oil level sensor in the dash so we have a separate line to run for that. We do everything possible to utilize evey wire in the harness so that the least amount of wiring is necessary for you, the installer. It will work generally speaking on any M50 motor, but it is nice to know the year and model, but it's not necessary.

let me know if you have any other questions

        Jon"

I just bought a AKG adapter yesterday, should be here Friday from what tracking info says.
I will post photos when it shows up and check it all out.
I know of 2 people who just bought one about a month ago and they was both great looking and I didnt see any issues with it at all.
          We will see..

It's two pieces of plastic and some heatshrink, what exactly do you want to see? It looks an awful lot like the picture on their site.

ok I finally got around to taking a peak at the adapter.
the plugs are used but cleaned and in very good condition.
The wires that was not spliced was pulled from the harness along with the pins in the connectors.
The wires that was spliced together was crimped then heat shrink over them.
Then all the wires was wrapped in electrical tape, and some plastic wire cover and then more tape.
For the 200 I have spent on this I think it was well worth it in the end.
Saves me a lot of time searching and splicing, now I dont have to worry if I fucked anything up.

with all the infomation available on this forum and the ETM, poeple are still spending $400
                            for a stupid plug?
if i were to spend that much money, i will expect a full OBD1 harness with the C101 attached to it. maybe i should start making that. :)
ive wired of 8 or more M5X swaps and i solder all of those connection none of them has failed. Poeple talkin shit about soldering either dont know how to solder properly or jst read too much on the internet. as other suggestest, u need a retard amount of solder to affect the resistors of a wire.

And soldering is still not as good as crimping.

If you have a good ratcheting AMP crimp tool and properly sized dies, definitely. But, this is ca$hlimited.

If you have access to these tools, great. If not, solder.
