    it shouldn't make a difference.

      how??
      fuel consumption MPG vs. KPL
Distance to empty Miles vs. Kilometers.

I can send it calibrated for Litre/Km, grams/meter or Kilograms of CO2 per 100Km.

Lulz...I've always been using my correction module on L/100km. The conversion for MPG or L/100km is built into the OBC itself (have a look in your E30s handbook for instructions on how to change it around). Steve's module will work just fine - no need for geographic calibrations.

I alwasy thought the OBC does the converison internally since you can change the units of measurements?

              Hoveringuy,

I have an M3 which will be running Motec M800 ECU. Can you tell me what type of signal the stand alone module requires (Switched to earth?)? I should be able to configure the Motec to switch an auxiliary channel to earth easy enough.

Am I correct in saying the DME fuel output signal is 12Hz switched to earth, with pulse width proportional to load?

              Many Thanks in advance

              Steve

The signal is switch to earth.

Your Motec will already be providing the necessary signal... the injector signal. The frequency of the signal is directly proportional to RPM and the width of the pulse to injector duty cycle. So, 400Hz to 3500Hz is about right.

Can I ask then, does the OBC require a signal that is switched to earth, directly proportional to RPM with the same pulse width as the duty cycle? If not what does it need?

                  Thanks

                  Steve

                    Yes, basically.

It adds the amount of time that it is switched to earth as fuel consumption. The quicker your engine is turning, the more often the injectors are firing (frequency) and the harder you are on the gas the longer they are open (duty cycle).

The easiest way to get that signal is to tap directly off one of the injectors itself.

If the MOTEC is capable of generating a discrete signal just for that purpose you wouldn't really need the board, because you'd be able to adjust that signal in MOTEC to get accurate mileage.

Nice looking cab! I see you went with the MAF at the 10 O'clock position... it really does make a difference.

I'll have the board out to you ASAP. The newest version is slightly nicer than the original with silk screened component graphics.
