the e36 getrag's have a 1:1 ratio in 5th gear, right?
and the e30 getrag's have a .81:1?

Euro 3.2 with M coupe tranny (same as M3 5 speed)...either a 4.10 or a 3.73 (depending on the track). might look into a 6 speed and a 4.27 or a 4.45.
It was fun though

One of the fastest cars out there that day, mostly because it is very well driven. I personally think 4.27 or even 4.45 would be a little overkill, if you're on a short technical track you'll be shifting constantly.

Euro motor has another 600-1000 revs to work with than a US motor. Makes a big difference. I wouldn't use a 4.27 or a 4.45 with a 5 speed. The 5 speed with a 3.73/4.10 vs a 6 speed with a 4.27/4.45 is similar to the E30 M3 OD vs CR gear box. 2-6 on the 6 speed are closer spaced than 1-5 (5 speed and 6 speed has same first 5 gear ratios).
