Supercharged S50, ZF, 2.93 LSD. I do a lot of highway driving so I love it.

When I had my 3.73 it was an absolute blast around town but I was not a fan of it on the highway.

            M50 + e46 ZF + 3.73lsd

Annoying on highway and anything over 50mph. Its a blast around town though.

Planning on picking up a 2.93s or a 3.15s after a few hp adders.

what's the formula for figuring rev's for say, 70 mph? (based on gear ratio?)

                  the e36 getrag's have a 1:1 ratio in 5th gear, right?
                  and the e30 getrag's have a .81:1?

Here is a nice calculator for calculating rev's - http://www.diffsonline.com/techinfo/...Calculator.xls

S50 + 260 + 3.23LSD. I guess it is a bit tall, but works great for both driving around and track as it saves a few shifts.

Not that it really matters as mine is strictly a track car...

                            Euro 3.2 with M coupe tranny (same as M3 5 speed)...either a 4.10 or a 3.73 (depending on the track). might look into a 6 speed and a 4.27 or a 4.45.

I drove a '95 m3 last year at Road America with an e46 6-speed and 4.10, that was a lot of work. It was very quick and a lot of fun, but a lot more shifting than I'm used too. It also had a US spec 3.0l worth around 300hp at the crank. One of the fastest cars out there that day, mostly because it is very well driven. I personally think 4.27 or even 4.45 would be a little overkill, if you're on a short technical track you'll be shifting constantly.

                              It was fun though

Road America is a fast track. I would put in the 3.73 with the 5 speed.

Euro motor has another 600-1000 revs to work with than a US motor. Makes a big difference. I wouldn't use a 4.27 or a 4.45 with a 5 speed. The 5 speed with a 3.73/4.10 vs a 6 speed with a 4.27/4.45 is similar to the E30 M3 OD vs CR gear box. 2-6 on the 6 speed are closer spaced than 1-5 (5 speed and 6 speed has same first 5 gear ratios).
