Just get a Dr.Vanos vanos unit. Couple hundred bucks and they are very nice.

Depending on what the shop says this time I might get a dr. vanos. It's strange, when the car is out of gear it revs up and sounds great, however when there is load on the engine (gear engaged) It starts acting up. I'm out of ideas so I dropped it at the shop earlier. I was able to make use of the middle hole in the head. I ordered a new e30 temp guage sensor and took it down to the machine shop and had them shave the threads down to the size of the e36 one and now I have a working temp guage.

Holy shit this thing is fast! Turned out the problem is the vanos, it seems to have some sort of internal leak. So I think I might try new seals or just get a dr. vanos. So I'm running it right now without the vanos and it is extremely quick. I'm going to have to do a 5 lug sooner than I thought with how easy it wants to break loose. Some larger wheels and brakes would feel a lot better. My dipstick keeps dripping oil all over my driveway. I bought a few new seals and the first two ripped immediately and the last one I thought I got in there right, yet When I checked after a short drive it's dripping still. Do I have to pull my alternator out to get it to line up? I bent the tube to account for that, but it doesn't work. I dont know what else to do.
I'm going to dyno it without the vanos and then again when it 's running properly with the vanos just to see the difference. I could post some videos of acceleration if there's any interest.

Definitely post up some videos. What size tire you running in the rear?
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

I got tomorrow off if you want to make the journey. Thats what I did with the oring I put it on the tube first and tried to just slide it in, but it's no good. This is weird, you wouldn't think something like this would be complicated.
My coworker has a ws6 and we did a few runs earlier. I'm pretty sure its an ls1 since it has the ram air but I'm unsure. Mainly 50 mph pulls up to a little shy of 100. I'd start in third and immediatley put him at my rear bumper, by about 90 or 95 he'd inch up to my door and we'd shut down. Same result about 3-4 times. We did a couple digs since we got caught at a couple lights. I had him on the first one up to about 90 and let off. I had very little wheel spin and he obviously doesn't know how to launch because that thing should have handled me from a dig. the second I spun all of first and the first part of second and he ended up pulling a little on me before we shut down. It was fun, we were both very surprised. I'm still getting used to this car. I now have bragging rights at work. I'm not trying to turn this into a kills forum or anything, just wanted to share a fun experienceLast edited by sharksforthecup; 06-11-2008, 11:20 PM.
