A 3.2 OBD-1 with a big MAF, no cats, good exhaust and good software can pull around 230whp pretty easily, can't it?

If the M50 is a VANOS, then they are the same. The springs are different though.

'good' software, as in custom tuning, then yes.

For the record, I like my M50.

I liked my M20, too (but not as much).

Not everyone does the swap to run a 14 second 1/4.

I just wanted a more modern engine that was more reliable, didn't sound as if it was going to self destruct at a light, and got a little better MPG.
Actually having torque, and the extra 20 or so ponies was a bonus.
Plus the exhaust note 24V> 12V sry

Yup, and it would be better to rebuild a M5X or S5X than a m20.
